Australian telco pays customers to answer the phone

In an Australian first, pre-paid mobile customers can earn up to $50 per month in mobile credit just by answering their mobile phone, reports Net4Now.

The Telstra Pre-Paid Plus Call Credits offer rewards customers with five cents credit for every full minute someone calls them from any type of phone (mobile, land line or even a payphone) in Australia. The extra credit of up to $50 per month can be used like any normal recharge credit.

"We're providing genuine value to our customers for simply talking on their mobile - it doesn't get much easier to earn something for nothing," said Telstra's Head of Consumer Marketing, Ms Jenny Young.
