Yudhoyono urges Indonesians to send text messages about officials

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is urging Indonesians who feel frustrated by bureaucratic red tape or inept officials to call him directly or send him a text message, reports Forbes.

"Yudhoyono, who took office in October and has vowed to improve Indonesia's chronic bureaucratic problems, said his mobile phone will be available 24 hours a day for the public to voice their complaints.

Speaking to a group of farmers and fishermen in a ceremony in West Java, Yudhoyono said the phone calls and SMS text messages will serve as his 'eyes and ears' that could help the public solve their problems.
