SMS tickets to Live8 SuperConcert

u2R310305_450x360.jpg Mobile phone chiefs today urged fans not to make a desperate rush for tickets to the Live 8 "superconcert" - and said there was nothing to be gained from applying early, reports This is London.

The landmark event in London's Hyde Park on 2 July features a star line-up including Madonna, REM, U2, Sir Paul McCartney and Coldplay, and could even see the return of the Spice Girls.

The 150,000 tickets are available via a text lottery which opened at 8am today - and it is feared that huge demand could cause the system to crash.

Organisers are expecting up to 70 million calls on what could be the biggest day for SMS messaging in mobile phone history."
