Gadget theft 'fuels street crime'

_40075630_attack203.jpg The popularity of iPods and new mobile phones has fuelled a sharp rise in street robbery in the capital, Britain's most senior police officer has said, reports ITV.com.

"Sir Ian was speaking as new figures showed an increase in robbery - which includes street crime and the theft of personal items - of 26.4 per cent in London in April compared to the same month last year.

The figures will come as a warning to many young people who are keen to show off the latest must-have gadget."
