Mobile phone sales up 17% in first quarter
According to information from Gartner, a research company, global mobile handset sales rose 17% to 180.6m units in the first quarter of 2005. [via M2.com]
"Sales of mobile phones grew across all regions, leading the company to increase its forecast for global mobile handset sales in 2005 to 750m from 720m, equating to a 13% rise on year.
Nokia Corp. saw its market share rise to 30.4% from 28.8%. after selling 54.9m units in the first quarter and Motorola increased its market share to 16.8%. Samsung Electronics market share rose to 13.3%, whilst LG Electronics also increased their market share. In contrast Siemens AG revealed a market share decline to 5.5% from 8%."
