Five Million Bluetooth Products A Week

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) says that growing consumer demand for Bluetooth wireless technology has driven up demand to shipping five million Bluetooth units per week. Mike Grenville for 160characters.org reports.

"The milestone confirms that Bluetooth technology is gaining wisdespread acceptance in applications such as mobile phones, cars, portable computers, mp3 players, mice and keyboards.

The number of Bluetooth products on the market doubled from 2003 to 2004 to an installed base of over 250 million with a continued growth likely reaching 500 million units by the close of 2005.

Since the first release of the Bluetooth Specification in 1998, over 3400 companies have become members in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG)."
