"Learn a trade" campaign sent by French government

arton112.gif The French government launched a nationwide text messaging campaign, to encourage 15 to 20-year-olds to consider learning a trade and becoming an apprentice, as an option for their future.

500'000 SMS were sent out to young people, reading "Apprentiship has changed, it's time to think about it!" («l'apprentissage a changé, c'est le moment d'y penser !»).

The government objective is to increase the number of apprentices by 40%, to reach 500'000 by 2009. There are 365'000 apprentices today.

All information on this campaign can be found on the Cohésion Sociale website (in French)..
