Paris. Les Objets Trouvés and cell phones

objets_trouves.jpg A wonderful article from The Times Online on Paris' office of Les Objets Trouvés.

"This week, to celebrate its 200th anniversary, the Paris Lost Property Office (Le Service des Objets Trouvés) — the biggest of its kind in Europe — opened its doors to journalists to reveal the 70,000 objects in store, including 6,000 mobile telephones in a room of their own. “It's incredible how forgetful people can be,” Jean-Pierre, a member of staff, said.

"Set up in May 1805, ‘le Service' is a triumphant example of the Napoleonic administration that has run France ever since. Everything is catalogued — nothing is lost. About 300 people arrive daily in search of their object and, if it is there, they leave with it."
