How did the police treat you? SMS rating planned

This is definitely one of the more interesting SMS schemes to have come along.

Young people in London who are stopped by the police could use text messaging to monitor officers' behaviour in a pilot project being planned by the Metropolitan Police, reports Young People Now.

"The project would allow those who have been stopped and searched by the police to text their verdict on how they have been treated to a special number - a process similar to the "how's my driving?" sticker on the back of lorries.

The idea of the pilot is being explored by the Met in consultation with groups, including the UK Youth Parliament, as part of an initiative to improve its relationship with young people. It could involve trying out different methods in each of the three pilot areas.

The Met team is taking legal advice over the issue of identifying and rating individual officers."
