India. MPs to get SMSs if there is no quorum in House

parliamentnewdelhi.gif The New Delhi Parliamentary Affairs Ministry plans to use text messaging to call MPs to the House in case there is no quorum, reports Sify News.

The Ministry has begun collecting the mobile phone numbers of MPs.

"Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was very keen on starting this so that members were able to get information faster than through the earlier practice of informing them through post and telephone".
