B.C. group texting to raise voter awareness
Political organizers in British Columbia are hoping to use cell phone text messaging to get young people interested in politics, reports CBC News.
"The non-partisan group "Get Your Vote On" plans to blitz the cell phones of its young members with polls and alerts in antipation of the May 17 provincial election.
Organizers, who held a trial run of its text-messaging network this weekend, say if the system is a sucess in B.C., they hope to roll it out across the country in time for the next federal election."
