Cell phone-toting students will be fined

indiacollege.gif From the next academic year, students carrying cell phones to colleges will be penalised, higher education minister Pinnamaneni Venkateshwara Rao said on Thursday, reports The Times of India. The government will later consider whether such students should be suspended. The quantum of penalty is yet to be decided.

"15 countries had already banned the use of mobile phones in colleges and in our country, five to six states have already imposed the ban".

This follows earlier post today on the Andhra Pradesh government deciding to ban the use of mobile phones in colleges from the next academic sessions.

And earlier, Mobile phones were banned in Delhi government schools - Follows the circulation of an MMS clip, showing a boy and girl from a private city school in a sexually explicit act, through mobile phones, Internet and video CDs.
