Dancers compete for glittering prize
At the Australian Ballet studios in Southbank yesterday, nominees for the annual $20,000 Telstra Ballet Dancer of the Year were announced, reports The Age.
"This is the third year the award, the highest accolade of its kind in the country, has been presented. It offers $20,000 to a dancer judged by senior artists to be outstanding in numerous criteria throughout the year, such as artistic quality, generosity of spirit and ability as a role model, with the winner named at the end of the year.
There is also a People's Choice award, voted for by Australian Ballet audiences throughout the year by SMS and the company's website, bringing the winner $5000".
