Text messaging used to find deaf sailors in Auckland
Text messaging is used as a first by Coastguards in a rescue mission.
Coastguard staff members used text messages to find several deaf people whose boat had broken down in Auckland's Kaipara Harbour, reports New Zealand's stuff.
"A family member - worried because the group was still not home - gave out cellphone numbers of those on board, and by text message, the coastguard was able to establish that the boat had broken down and was being towed to shore after flagging down a passing charter vessel."
