Italian comms minister: 'No tax rise on mobiles'

The Italian communications minister has denied that there is to be a rise in the tax on mobile phonesor an increase in the country's TV licence fee, reports DMeurope.

"There is no measure, nothing was even mentioned, about taxation on mobile phones and the TV licence fee" said minister Maurizio Gasparri. "There is a norm which excludes any tax rise or adjustment with regards to mobile phones."

The minister described reports of tax and licence fee rises that have appeared in the local press as "groundless."
