BT helps keep families in touch with troops

Telecoms giant BT is providing a free telephone number for families of British soldiers serving in Iraq to hear up to date information on their regiment, reports Kuna.net.

"The service will be available for wives, partners and families of 500 members of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, a British army unit, who are this week starting a six month tour of duty in Basra.

The regiment's Major Stuart Houghton said: This is the first time we have been able to offer families a service of this sort. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) provides internet access to the troops in Iraq but this is a fantastic enhancement to the MoD welfare package."
