French and Malaysian fund raising campaigns by SMS
Two more SMS fund raising campaigns:
France. The 3 French operators, Bouygues Telecom, SFR and Orange have launched for the first time, a joint campaign enabling French mobile phone users to donate to the countries affected by the Tsunamis. They need only send an SMS to special numbers (you can choose between three organisations) and pay an extra euro for the SMS. Now one Euro does not seem like a lot, but there are 42 million mobile phone owners in France, so it could make a difference. [via Smart Mobs]
Malaysia. “I hope that all of u will be strong. May the souls of the victims rest in peace. It's a new year, lets begin a new life. May god bless u all.”. The message was among the 220 SMS received on the first day of the “From the Heart” campaign organised by DiGi Telecommunications, The Star and ntv7 to provide emotional support and raise funds for the tsunami victims.
The “From the Heart” campaign ill go on until Jan 14. All proceeds from the SMS messages sent would be donated to The Star Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Fund.
Under the second part, entitled the SMS Words of Support, all mobile phone users can send dedications and words of encouragement, which will be broadcast live on ntv7 and on the DiGi website at www.digi.com.my. [via The Star]
