More power-efficient antennas?

National Semiconductor has announced a new power converter for mobile phone antennas that they claim can reduce power consumption by up to 80%, according to InfoSync World.

"Nearly all mobile phones, smartphones, and communicators on the market today are powered by Lithium Ion batteries. Those batteries output power to the device at a given voltage, but the antenna on the device frequently requires a different, lower voltage"
