NY Marathon - Like Good Sneakers, a Cellphone Is a Must

cell.184.1.jpg It used to be that family members and friends of runners would try to attract the attention of runners with signs, colored balloons or flags. But in Sunday's marathon of about 37,257 runners, many people used cellphones to find each other. With about two million spectators lining the route, cellphones were a necessity for runners seeking loved ones.

"Forget bright colors - a ring or a vibration would put runners in touch with family and friends. Some kept phones tucked in fanny packs, others used clips attached to their shorts. One man kept it in his back pocket so he could feel the vibration. Most opted for the handheld variety, but others sported fancy headsets."
