New Nokia Car Kit
Dexigner Forum informs that Nokia has developed a new Car Kit.
"The fact that the Nokia 616 can also be used in Handsfree mode makes it compatible with a significantly greater number of mobile phones", says Uwe Pertz, from Nokia Automotive. "Both operating modes let the user transfer phonebook contacts via Bluetooth wireless technology and intuitively operate the phone using the NaviÔ wheel."
When using Bluetooth SIM Access mode, the Nokia 616 works as a car phone with access to the external SIM card located in the mobile phone. In Bluetooth SIM Access mode, the Car Kit can be used currently with the Nokia 6820, Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6810 mobile phones, as well as the Nokia 9300 smartphone and other manufacturers' mobile phones supporting Bluetooth SIM Access Profile. In Handsfree mode the new Nokia Car Kit is compatible with the majority of Bluetooth phones.
With the Nokia 616 Car Kit, when the driver gets into the vehicle, calls already in progress on his phone can be continued, as long as the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth Handsfree profile. The Nokia 616 then temporarily switches to Handsfree mode. As soon as the call is ended, the system switches into the Bluetooth SIM Access mode.
The Car Kit should be available in the first quarter of 2005 in Europe, Africa and some Asian countries.
