New Navy Dress Code includes Cell phone wear
The U.S. Navy is getting a 21st century makeover, with a new dress code that makes skirts optional for its more than 54,000 female sailors for the first time since women officially entered the service in 1908, according to the Marine Independent Journal.
"The revamped skirt policy is one of several changes to the dress code recommended after a survey of more than 40,000 sailors. As a result, all sailors in working uniform can now wear cell phones and carry garment bags over their shoulders.
Related but somewhat dated: Franciscan monks in Assisi were being fitted with new habits in 2001, according to Ananova, >to accommodate their mobile phones. The new robes were to be fitted with special pockets capable of carrying mobiles unobtrusively.
Italian designer Elisabetta Biancheri was behind the new £100 habits of soft, dark-grey linen.
