Chhattisgarh CM receives 42,000 SMS, email greetings on his B'day

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh received 42,000 SMS and e-mail greetings and collected over 9,200 bouquets as he celebrated his 52nd birthday, reports the Hindustan Times.

"Singh, who led his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a surprise victory in Assembly polls in December last year, celebrated his first birthday as chief minister on Friday and hosted a dinner for over 22,000 supporters at his official residence.

"The chief minister's official e-mail address and e-mail addresses of senior officers of the chief minister's secretariat recorded 18,000 birthday greetings by 10.30 am on Saturday," said an aide to Singh.

"SMS greetings crossed the 24,000-mark and were mostly received on cell phones of close officers and top party aides."
