Nokia Expert Sees Russia Mobile Phones Sales at 30M Units in 2004

The sales of new mobile phones in Russia will reach 22-30 million in 2004, reports mosnews.

This forecast was made by Kenneth Jonsson, managing director of Nokia in CIS countries at a press conference in Moscow.

Russian cell phone market is one of the fastest growing in the world,” said Jonsson. At the same time according to Nokia expert “the growth of cell phone market happens mostly in the regions, as users in Moscow and St. Petersburg are mostly exchanging old phones for new ones”.

Jonsson also forecasted that in 2005 Russian will become the largest GSM-phone market in Europe.

As MosNews wrote earlier, the market experts forecast that in 2004 the subscriber base of Russian cell network operators will grow by approximately 30 million and will exceed 60 million by the end of the year."
