SimpleTEXT: control the peformance with SMS
SimpleTEXT is an audio/visual performance that focuses on the dynamic involvement of the audience through input from mobile devices. Participants submit SMS which control the audiovisual output of the installation, first guiding how the music is created, and then rhythmically driving a speech synthesizer and a picture synthesizer to create a joint audiovisual performance.
SimpleTEXT, created by Family Filter and Jonah Bruckner-Cohen, was originally funded by a commission from Low-Fi, a new media arts organization based in the UK.
The next SimpleTEXT performance will take place at the end of this month in Barcelona, Spain, during the Art Futura festival.
