Player leaves club after text message gaffe

Romania's top footballer, Marian Aliuta, has left his club after mistakenly sending a critical text message to the owner, reports Onlypunjab.com.

Aliuta, of Steaua Bucharest sent the text, criticising new coach Walter Zenga, to the club's owner Victor Becali instead of to his old coach and friend Victor Piturca.

The message read: "It was much better when you were here. Zenga isn't worth anything."

He has joined rivals Rapid Bucharest.

Aliuta, who was the country's best paid player, said. "The story is true, I did send the SMS to my boss and that only made my situation at the club worse."
