Computers and cell phones relieve boredom in class

studentsl.jpg In an average lecture hall, it seems that one can hear more than just the droning of a professor. From the clacking of keyboards, to the quiet melodies of iPods, students are finding alternate ways to keep busy in boring classes, reports the Technician Online.

Students play games on their phones and computers," Biby Shapiro, a sophomore in psychology, said.

Text messaging has also become a popular choice of activity during classes. This newer technology can be done silently and discreetly while allowing communication with others.

Some feel that the problem is not with the students being hard to please, but with the professors being uninterested and unwilling to get the students involved in the classroom.

Although many professors ask that students turn off their cell phones during classes to prevent disturbances, text messaging goes largely unnoticed, especially in large classes."
