Philippino Metro cops form special teams to fight cell phone thieves

Metro Manila policemen have been directed to create special teams that would go after cell phone thieves in the wake of the growing number of killings and other crimes triggered by cell phone robberies, reports Inq7.net.

"National Capital Region Police Office Director Avelino Razon said the teams would be composed of intelligence or undercover policemen, and beat patrol operatives who pound the streets of a town or city to provide police visibility.

At the same time, Manila policemen were also directed to inspect stores that sell second-hand cell phones as a deterrent to the re-sale of stolen cell phones."
