Texting parents about child's progress in class
This is actually a new twist. Many schools around the world have set up schemes to inform parents of their child's absence (cf SMS and Students ), but this is the first time I've read of a school which means to keep parents informed by SMS of how their child is progressing in class.
According to the BBC, A north east school, Keith Grammar School, is using the latest mobile phone technology to provide parents with regular text messages on pupils' progress".
Rector John Aitken said it would be used to praise a positive attitude to work or behaviour. Texts will also be used to highlight any problems which may arise.
The pioneering project could be adopted at other schools if it is successful."
