Businesses offering storm relief

Businesses stepped up to help those whose luck ran out on Friday the 13th, reports the Bradenton Herald.

[...] With land-line phones out of commission in Charlotte County and cell phone reception spotty, Verizon Wireless has deployed a wireless emergency communication center to help victims reach family members.

A special tent has been set up at the Kings Crossing Shopping Center on Kings Highway in Port Charlotte.

Cell phones and computers can be used free by storm victims.

Technicians will be available at Verizon stores in Sarasota and Manatee counties to check, clean and charge up phones that went through the storm or have lost power."
