Maldives halts internet, SMS traffic to block anti-govt messages after protest

crowd_morning_august2004.jpg Maldives' authorities halted Internet and cell phone text messaging services on Saturday, a day after thousands of activists rallied in a rare show of dissent in this tightly controlled island nation, reports the Khaleej Times.
