According to the Financial Times, the founder of discount European airline easyJet is ready to introduce a cut-rate mobile telephone service in Britain next week, setting the stage for a price war.

"Serial entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannou plans to hold a news conference on Tuesday where he will unveil a low-cost wireless voice and text-messaging service named easyMobile, the source said, confirming plans first made public in February. cf ĞEasy Mobileğ : Stelios plans 'no frills' mobile

EasyMobile has the backing of Danish operator TDC A/S, which will handle customer billing and network operations for the newly formed company.

EasyMobile promises to offer the same rates 24 hours a day, without peak or off-peak calling and regardless of which network carrier the call travels over, the source said."
