Ban on mobile phones in schools to stop students from gambling
The Department of Justice in the Philippine's is seeking a ban on mobile phones in schools to stop students from using them for gambling, according to inq7.net via Smart Mobs.
According to Secretary Merceditas Gutierrez, "gambling has become a very serious problem".
Gutierrez said the DoJ received reports some students had committed suicide after losing.
In a game popularly known as "ending," students bet on the final scores in sports competitions, especially basketball. These bets are sent to operators through cellular phones".
