Fixed-line texting is the next big thing, says report

A consultancy firm, Frost & Sullivan, believes that sending text messages from your fixed line phone is the next big thing. Hah!

"The consultancy estimates fixed-line SMS traffic will grow between 15 and 20 per cent per month, with a similar increase in subscriber numbers.

According to Frost & Sullivan, Western Europe has three to five million active fixed-line SMS subscribers, with the majority of subscribers sending two to three messages per month.

That's a ridiculous amount of SMS sent compared to what Europeans send on their cell phones each day, estimated at 10 messages a day.
