SMS wishes for pop diva recovery

South African pop diva Brenda Fassie's hospitalisation has generated so much public interest that a SMS service giving updates and allowing support messages to be sent went into operation on Wednesday, reports iafrica.com.

"Those wanting to send their support to Fassie can send an SMS to short code 36836 and typing Brenda first -the proceeds going to a newly-established Fassie Trust Fund.

Or for people who want periodical updates on Fassie's condition, they should SMS "latest" and send to 36836.

Fassie was hospitalised on Monday last week following an asthma attack which led to cardio-respiratory arrest. Doctors were able to resuscitate her but she fell into a coma."

I'm not sure whether this SMS campaign is heartwarming or opportunistic on the part of Fassie's handlers.
