Cell phone use by teen drivers may be restricted

US Legislation that would make it illegal for 16- and 17-year-old drivers from using cell phones while driving a car passed a key California Senate committee by a 7-4 vote Tuesday, making it the first bill limiting cell phone use by drivers to advance in the Senate, reports the San Jose Business Journal. A bill opposed by the way by Verizon Wireless.

In the UK, a new study written up by ic Kent, reports that one third of drivers are generally flouting the ban on talking and driving, "resorting to hiding cell phones behind their hair, covering them with their hands or simply shouting louder to get around the ban on using a mobile while driving.

And in the news today, posted by Stateline.org, some US States are taking aim at driving under the influence of TV.

"What's becoming known as “drive-by porn”, watching porn videos in your car, is titillating the interest of a few state lawmakers in Tennessee and Louisiana who seek to ban it. But so far, no state has regulated what can be watched inside vehicles -- only who can watch."

It won't be long until this will too will become an issue with camera and video phones while driving.
