Marathon Texts
Yes, simple as that. A technological leap designed to help competitors in this year's London Flora Marathon will keep their friends up to speed with their progress. Wireless operator Orange is providing miniature timing chips that attach to the laces of competitors' shoes and trigger sensor mats located at various points around the course.
Orange says it has more than 10,000 chips, which cost about £10 each, ready for this Sunday's event. Orange says the texts are free across all mobile networks. Participants have until 5.30pm tomorrow to register on www.orange.co.uk/marathon.
