Cell phone detonated bombs in Madrid
Reuters via Mobile Tracker reports that "the bombs used in the deadly Madrid train bombings were set off by a mobile phone, containing copper detonators, which are not generally used by armed Basque separatist group ETA, a radio station has reported".
Update Bloomberg reports that "Spain arrested three Moroccans and two Indians in connection with the train-bombing attacks. The suspects were involved in selling counterfeit cell phones and cards to activate the phones and were linked to the device attached to the bomb".
This is by no means the first incident of a bomb explosion being detonated by a cell phone. See related articles:
