China's 60 percent cell phones to be exported in 2004
Something European cell phone manufacturers must be concerned about, China's exporting cell phones - at a lower cost.
The People's Daily reports that this year, China's cell phone production is expected to hit 170 million. And nearly 100 million of them - or 60 percent of them - will be exported, according to The People's Daily.
"Up to the end of 2003 China produced 186.44 million cell phones and sold out 183.21 million, making cell phone the number one electronic product both in terms of production and sales.
The monopoly of cell phone market by foreign-invested companies and foreign products has been fundamentally changed. The rapid development of cell phone industry also provides Chinese accessory parts industry with plenty of market space. As for now the compatibility ratio of homemade cell phone component parts has been raised to over 50 percent, thus greatly reducing cell phone production cost".
