Cell Phones Used to Thwart Kashmir Attack

The Associated Press has a very interesting article on how how cell phones have contributed to intelligence gathering between Indian troops and Muslim separatists fighting in India.

"With the changing of the times, intelligence tip-offs come in by landline phone, cellular phone calls and even e-mails. "Much of our success is due to better intelligence-gathering that is directly linked to better communication.'' said S. Srinivasan, who heads the intelligence wing of the Border Security Force".

Security officials say that after fighting what appeared to be a no-win war for the past 14 years, providing easier access for Kashmiris to mobile phones, land lines and the Internet has paid off in fewer militant attacks and lower death tolls".

Thanks VC!
