SMS greetings to gain political support

Politicians have taken advantage of the Chinese New Year celebration to canvas for support from voters via text messaging, by customising their seasons greetings with political connotations, according to Malaysia's Star.

"Both ruling and opposition parties displayed creativity with witty slogans as the general election drew closer.

Among the messages complete with party logos were lines such as “New things for the New Year, vote for xx party for a new era” and “Support xx party, only then there will be hope in life”.
