Winter Text alerts when schools close because of bad weather

A Scottish council has set up a mobile text alert service to let residents know about disruption to schools because of bad weather, reports the BBC.

"Councillor Drew Edward said the service was a pilot one, but if successful it may develop next year to include other services such as roads or council offices".

Residents may sign up online at the Winter Center.
