Rumour of December election spreads via SMS

While most political observers do not expect general elections in Malaysia to be held this month, a rumour spread like wildfire last week via thousands of mobile phone text messages, according to the Straits Times.

"The messages cited highly placed government sources in predicting the election date. They gained credibility because specific dates were mentioned.

Parliament would be dissolved on Dec 2, nomination day would be on Dec 11 and the vote would fall on Dec 20, according to the rumour".
