World stars for Mandela's Aids bash

More than 20 international stars and a collection of homegrown artists will rock Green Point Stadium in South Africa next month for Nelson Mandela's international Aids awareness concert, reports Cape Argus.

"One of the campaign's main aims is to call on citizens around the world to put pressure on their governments to respond to Aids as an international emergency.

It also aims to launch a global petition by using worldwide telephone networks.

Callers will be able to phone in via local numbers and South Africans can dial 082 146 664 at a premium rate or SMS 46664 (Vodacom and MTN subscribers)".

The concert will be broadcast live on the internet and televised by 100 MTV channels globally. They will screen the event on World Aids Day, December 1. It is expected to reach an audience of about 2 billion people around the world".
