University of Wales uses text to contact applicants

As the clearing system for another year's higher education entrants nears an end, the University of Wales Institute Cardiff has adopted a text messaging service to contact UCAS applicants and current students, reports Revolution Magazine.

The service will provide reminders for UCAS deadlines, open days and interviews and deliver course information.

In a related post, a new student SMS information service has been implemented at 50 Universities and Colleges across the UK.

Students can now receive lecture alerts, exam updates and promotions offered though their union by subscribing to the Unions SMS service. cf UK Student Unions offer lecture alerts, exam updates by SMS.
