Text messaging friend leads to rape

A girl of 15 was raped in the UK after her first meeting with a man she contacted by texting on her mobile phone, it was revealed yesterday.

The teenager began the text relationship with the man after a friend met him through an internet-based chat service, according to the Daily Record.

Something else for parents to worry about, who their children are texing with. In chatrooms, the first questions asked, despite all warnings, is "age", "sex", "city", followed after a relationship sets in, by "cell phone number". And unlike the Internet they're are no records if the children delete their SMS as they go along. And it's hard to monitor something as personal and held so closely as a cell phone. An issue parents and children should talk about.
