Hindus make their offerings by SMS

Avoiding queues at the temples such as the elephant-headed god Ganesh, during the course of Bombay's biggest religious festival, Hindus are sending their prayers by SMS, thanks to a service offered by BPL Mobile cellular operator.

More than 5,000 people have used the service since it's launch on Sunday according to the operator, and reported by The Mirror.

"After the prayer, the temple sends the BPL customer a receipt, special offerings and a portrait of Ganesh".
