80% of mobile users in the Middle East don't get T-9 predictive text
Techdirt reports on an an article in Gulf News on how many many people seem to be completely confused by Tegic's T-9 predictive text (sometimes called dictionary) -- which simplifies message writing and saves time by allowing for 1 key press per letter, insteading of multi-tapping -- and want to go back to just keying in every necessary letter on their keypads. Some people sound positively angry about this feature that's supposed to make life easier for them.
Mobile phone dealers said they believed more than 80 per cent of GSM users in the UAE do not know have no idea what to do with the dictionary.
