Grannies in New York will go around saying shush! to New York commuters and their cell phones

In response to a recent survey of American phone users, AT&T wireless found most users believe that people are rude while using their handsets in public places, without owning up to such behaviour themselves. So AT&T has planned to stage a stunt this weekend in Grand Central and Penn Central stations in New York.

The service provider has decided to hire faux-grannies to 'shush' at the 'bad' mobile phone users, while rewarding more courteous users with candy and vouchers for accessories. Alongside the grannies will be mimes, demonstrating in a no-doubt hilarious manner the rights and wrongs of phone usage. [InfoSync via Mobile Tracker]
