Cell phones trigger bombs

During the trials following the Sari Club bombing in Bali bombing, it has been revealed that the terrorists used a cellphone to detonate the bomb planted in a mini bus. Over 200 people died in the bomb blast, which the alleged bombers say were part of a religious war against western interests, reports Cellular News.

A related story was previously reported in Textually.org, when the FBI confirmed that modified cell phones were found during searches in Saudi Arabia, following the May 12 bombing, and that they were rigged to detonate explosives by remote control.

And today, The Moscow Times reports that a cell phone was found on one of the female suicide bombers that killed 14 people at the Krylya rock festival Saturday. Whether it helped dentonate a bomb is not mentioned, but the FSB is examining its SIM card for clues as to whether the bombers coordinated the attack with accomplices.

An interesting note posted by Dave Farber reflects on terror situations in Israel, recommending that Israelis consider keeping their cell phones turned off.
