Texting campaign for US presidential candidate

Howard Rheningold in Smart Mobs, reports on Presidential canditate Howard Dean's using SMS to build grassroots support with young voters. He has set up his texto campaign headquarters on Upoc.com, where users can sign up to receive wireless updates from his official website, deanforamerica.com. Howard Dean is covering all bases and also has an official politoblog with the slogan: "Blog for America".

Last year before and during the presidential elections in France, candidates Jean-Pierre Chevènement, Alain Madelin, François Bayrou and extreme right wing Jean-Marie Lepen all participated in SMS chat sessions organized by (youth) mobile community Freever, with an astounding 250'000 questions logged in for Jean-Marie Le Pen.
